We don't know if it is appropriate, but holiday traditions take all forms. We have just come into possesion of a charming children's book "A Book of Ghosts and Goblins", from which this is an illustration. It appears to be a nattily dressed goblin, or an overly rotund Vulcan.
This is fairly unique in that the book still has the dust jacket, even though the copyright date is the early 70's and it does appear to be a children's book, which you would think woul have gotten more wear, though adults of a certain stripe (including the previous owner) may enjoy reading the stories out loud to others in the room, whether the listener's be children or just the young at heart. We also have a more "serious" book on ghosts as well, which you can find out more about by clicking on the eBay Widgets provided. The other book is titled "Famous Ghosts, Phantoms and Poltergeists for the Millions by Andrew Tackaberry. We were watching the "Ghost Hunters" show last night on the Sci-Fi channel, and we have been perpetually amazed that this show is the top rated show on that cable channel. Not outer-space monsters, or time travellers, or other imaginative fiction like Doctor Who, but a show about ghosts. So, we are chiming in with our little offering too. What do ghosts want? This book will tell you. How do you meet ghosts - this gives you their haunts. How do you avoid ghosts? It is all here in a compact little volume. And if you are in over your head, there is a section on exorcisms, which have been enormously popular in the last 30 years or so.
