Clouds Bumped Together - No Blue Sky today. October 16

It is hard to see where the cloud space starts and the white spaceIMG_3397 in the background ends. It was a kind of uniform sky day in the  Heart of Texas. No non-uniform blue color to spoil the perfection of a continuous pattern. We had to even put a cedar tree in the picture so the picture of the sky would not look blank. Unless someone wants to see the other pictures of the cloudy sky by itself.  We went looking at books today. Found a charming book with a lot of water damage that showed some imperial portraits of Indian Mughals who ruled from 1556 until the early 1700's. One portrait was of a weighing of the local rajah, which was done twice a year. Once for the lunar calender and once for the solar calendar. And he would donate the proceeds of what his weight was equal to in gold to the fakirs (ascetics) and the poor.

Still another portrait was of a elderly sheik, giving a special blessing to one of his subjects to allow the man to have a son. He was pictured sitting on an hourglass throne made of glass with sand inside. And the sand was portrayed as running out, with two European-style cherubs alongside hiding their eyes at the sight, because the ruler was old and dying. We resisted buying the book, because sometimes the buyers do not want books of second rate quality and will complain, no matter how beautiful the book is otherwise.
