Pet Parrot Raises Alarm - Burglar Shot - October 18

We are reviewing store policies. We have had our heads down working at tToad in Tub 1he computer and did not note that last month a new law went into effect, and the story below did not get national coverage. It says that intruders can be shot. We found out while reviewing the background for the following alarming story in the Houston Chronicle. It has to do with a story published on the Tuesday about a man whose parrot would greet people as they passed and would say "Hello". However what awakened the owner of a locksmith business who resided at his business is that it was after midnight when the parrot went into its greeting routine and it was because of a burglar was rummaging around in the garage. And the owner had already been burgled several times during the previous weeks. It turns out that the parrot acted as a guard and alerted the owner. And the article started talking about the "Castle Law", which is apparently a Texas legal clarification that a homeowner cannot be held liable for injury or death to an intruder. We will be circulating a memo indicating the Office Gecko who shows up from time to time should not be considered a threat to life or property. And here is a photo of a recent visitor who stopped by to discuss the pros and cons of offering auctions on small bugs to prospective amphibian eBay members. We would hope our late night workers would not get too excited and start firing indiscriminately at our non-mammalian visitors. That would be cold-blooded.
