Dirk Gently - Holistic Detective - Douglas Adams

We were busy tonight, but there was Episode Two of Dirk Gently - Holistic Detective - a futuristic comedy series on the British Broadcasting Network's Radio Four. There is quite a bit of material from the novel already on the Internet, so we won't belabor you with the details, except to say that the radio series based on the novel appears to be quite delightful, it even has a theme song. There is a link on the BBC web page on the upper right hand corner should you choose to listen.

If you are a fan of the "Hitchhiker's Guide" this is more of the similar vein of humor. We are not sure who the target audience is, comic book readers, science-fiction fans, maybe Star Wars or Star Trek Fans? It is hard to say, since this is more of a detective story, with a murder in the first episode. Of course, having been written by Douglas Adams, it has to do with Samuel Coleridge's poem "Kubla Khan" being a garbled message from ancient aliens, there is a flash-back skit with George the III establishing a chair at a university on Chronology because of his fear of time flowing backwards. There is a kind of puzzling voice that says "Is that what you really want?" which sounds like either a robot or an oracle. We are not getting a commission to promote the show here, we just think some of you in the above mentioned demographic might enjoy it.
